Nearly 80% of Smart Horizons Career Online Education plan to matriculate into the post-secondary system
Fort Lauderdale, FL — June 20, 2018 — Smart Horizons Career Online Education (SHCOE) today released their 2018 college acceptance list. The list includes state universities and community colleges across the country. Currently, nearly 80 percent of students completing the SHCOE high school program plan to enroll in college.
From the 19-year-old graduate who earned a scholarship to top-ranked George Mason University to pursue his career in criminal justice, to the 35-year-old single mother of four who enrolled in a Florida state school to launch her paralegal career, SHCOE graduates are getting—and staying—re-engaged in the educational system.
“The exciting this is that we are meeting these students where they are and providing them a pathway to the next step in their education and career,” said Dr. Howard Liebman, SHCOE District Superintendent. “For some of our students that next step is a vocational credential in their industry or access to community college, for others it’s a four-year degree or entry into their state’s post-secondary system.”

“When students graduate from our program, 79% plan to enroll in post-secondary education,” said Dr. Liebman. “That’s a huge number. Students come to us having been unable to earn a high school diploma. They leave us with the confidence, skills, and knowledge to earn their next credential to open more doors and expand their opportunities.”
